Record-breaking Ryan Giggs leads celebrations with his family as Manchester United wins yet another another title

By Daily Mail Reporter

Father's pride: Giggs enjoys his record-breaking run with his two children, Zach and Libby as Manchester United celebrated its 12th Premier League win

It was all smiles for Manchester United players at the weekend as they were joined on the pitch by their number one fans - their children.

Ryan Giggs led the celebrations with his two children, Zach and Libby, who were all smiles along with Wayne Rooney's son, Kai and Rio Ferdinand's eldest, Lorenz at Old Trafford.

It was an extra special day for Giggs, however, as he celebrated his 12th Premier League title win.

The impressive feat means he is the only Manchester United player to have medals from all the team's championship successes.

United celebrated with extra gusto this year as the title is their 19th, which means the Red Devils overtake Liverpool as the most successful club in the country.

Despite reaching the relatively grand old age of 37 and still playing top-flight football, it is expected that Giggs will continue to play for the team as the Welsh-national has always made it clear that he wants to retire at the club.

He is one of the most respected players in the game and in 2009 he won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.

Throughout his career he has only really had one major run-in with his boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, and that was in 1992 when he was still new to the team.

The story goes that he was at a house party along with former player, Lee Sharpe, when Fergie turned up and kicked everyone out.

Nineteen years on and he is considered by many to be the 'golden boy' of football and it was all smiles for him and his two children on the pitch as they celebrated his record-breaking run.

Yesterday he was pictured with Zach and Libby at Old Trafford as the club's celebrations as champions of the Premier League continued - a week after the club clinched the title at Blackburn Rovers.

Throughout his career he has made the most Premier League appearances and is the only one to have scored in all the campaigns since it was created.

Speaking after winning the Sports Personality of the Year Award he said: 'I've been lucky enough to win a lot of things in my career, playing with great players and playing under the greatest manager who has ever lived, I've played for the greatest club, this is up there.'

Explaining how he kept up his level of performance despite his advancing years, Giggs said: 'Desire, looking after myself. I'm enjoying my football more than ever and I think that's reflected in my play.

A picture of hate: Celtic manager attacked by fan in latest disgrace for Scottish football

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Flashpoint: Neil Lennon (centre) is approached as first-team coach Alan Thompson attempts to stop the assailant

Two arrests made in connection with parcel bombs sent to Neil Lennon earlier in the season

The ugly side of Scottish football reared its vile head once again last night.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon was the victim of a brainless pitchside assault as he watched his side in action against Hearts last night.

It was new low in a season marred by sectarian violence, in which Lennon has been sent two parcel bombs and received a death threat.

But last night was the closest he has come to a physical attack and it was only the quick actions of his assistant manager Alan Thompson that saved him from harm.

Attack: The assailant launches himself at Lennon

The man clambered from the Hearts section of the main stand at Tynecastle stadium and charged towards the Celtic boss who was on the touchline.

Fortunately Thompson stuck an arm out as the man launched himself at Lennon. The attacker almost grabbed Lennon, but was knocked to the ground.

And as he was pinned down by Thompson and stewards a furious Lennon tried to confront the man.

The incident happened after Celtic player Gary Hooper put the visitors two goals ahead.

Off balance: The assailant slips as Thompson pulls him away from Lennon

Celtic won the game 3-0 to keep themselves one point behind bitter rivals Rangers in the title race with one game to go.

And last night Lennon preferred to focus on the football, writing on his Twitter page: 'Don't let what happened to me tonight take the shine off a wonderful team performance... I don't walk alone.'

A reference to the song You'll Never Walk Alone, which Celtic fans have adopted as their terrace anthem.

The Hearts supporter was taken away by police after the fracas at the Edinburgh stadium.

Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond branded the thug's actions 'unacceptable'.
Afterwards trouble flared in the Celtic section of the stadium with fans appearing to fight with police and stewards.

Lothian and Borders Police said that the man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal and would appear in court.

The incident is the latest to disgrace Scottish football. In March it emerged that Lennon and other high-profile Celtic supporters were sent parcel bombs.

Celtic confirmed he was under 24-hour security surveillance.

Meanwhile, a police operation was launched this morning in Kilwinning, Ayrshire, and two arrests were made in connection with an investigation into the parcel bombs.

The men, aged 41 and 43, were detained under the Explosives Substances Act 1883 after officers raided a number of properties in Kilwinning, Ayrshire.

Officers are still looking for whoever was responsible for sending two bombs to Lennon and one each to lawyer Paul McBride QC and former MSP Trish Godman.

4.54pm: City lift FA Cup, their first trophy for 35 years

For once, the city of Manchester really was united yesterday.

Sir Alex Ferguson's footballers secured a record 19th league title – and, two hours later, rivals Manchester City won the FA Cup.

The victory over Stoke at Wembley ended a 35-year trophy wait for Blues fans and also means both major domestic trophies are heading to Manchester this season.

Shortly after scoring a penalty earn to his side's 19th Premier League title win, Wayne Rooney celebrated in bizarre fashion by shaving the number '19' into his chest and posting a photograph of it on micro-blogging site Twitter.

It was a remarkable double that left everyone happy. Jubilant celebrations swept the city and in some cases the unthinkable occurred: both teams' fans toasted each other’s success.

'It's been our busiest ever day,' said Claire Rathern, of the city centre sports bar Norwegian Blue.

'We had one game after another, there was a great atmosphere and now we’re getting ready for an even busier night.'

And then the other: City get their hands of the trophy to delight the blue half of Manchester

United got the point they needed at Blackburn when Wayne Rooney scored an equaliser from the penalty spot to level the game at 1-1.

United star Rio Ferdinand uploaded a picture of the squad on Twitter – kick-starting their post-match celebrations.

The caption read: 'Championes championes ole ole ole!! Make sure u #stayonyourfeet tonight all you fans out partying!!'

Former Manchester United star Phil Neville heaped praise on both red and blue sides of Manchester saying: 'Great day for Mancunians...and it’s stopped raining!'

And the red: United fans in Blackburn didn't have far to travel home before they could celebrate an historic victory in their home city

United have now won more top-flight league titles than any other club in history, overtaking Liverpool’s tally of 18.

And at Wembley, Yaya Toure scored the goal which saw Manchester City beat Stoke 1-0 to claim the cup. The two clubs will return to Wembley to contest the Community Shield in August.

Immediately after the final whistle at Ewood Park, United fans flocked to Old Trafford to celebrate the title.

Later, hundreds of City fans gathered at Eastlands to hail their heroes.

City will hold an open-top bus parade in Manchester on Monday, May 23 and United will parade their trophy on Bank Holiday Monday, May 30.

Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City Council, said: 'City winning the FA Cup is a joyous occasion for many people in Manchester, myself included.

'Manchester United winning their 19th top-flight title is a remarkable and historic achievement.

'It’s only fitting that we host a public celebration of those achievements so fans can share the moment and enjoy the success.'

Game, set, match: Paris Hilton spent the afternoon yesterday playing tennis in Beverly Hills with her boyfriend Cy Waits

They say the couple that plays together stays together and this appears to be true for Paris Hilton and her boyfriend Cy Waits.

The loved up couple enjoyed and afternoon tennis game yesterday at courts near their Beverly Hills home.

The 30-year-old heiress showed off her ball skills in an all white outfit which included a short white tennis skirt and a white T-shirt.

Stretch: The heiress limbered up for the match with some gentle leg lifts

Paris also had a baby pink and white Wilson tennis racquet which she clear knew how to use.

The couple, who have been together since June 2010, also spent time kissing and cuddling in between sets.

At one point Paris showed her cheeky side by copying the famous 1970's Athena 'Tennis Girl' photograph and pulled up the back of her skirt to flash her bottom.

Unlike in the iconic picture, Paris had luckily remembered to wear underwear.

Paris has been putting the finishing touches to her new reality series The World According To Paris.

The show will feature Cy, her mother Kathy Hilton and Charlie Sheen's ex-wife Brooke Mueller as part of the cast.

The show will air on the Oxygen channel and is said to feature the 'real' Paris.

'When they see this new show, they're going to see the real me,' the star told E!
'It's a show like I've never done before. I'm really letting cameras into my real life, and it's just an all-access pass into what goes on.'
